Tan Tien qigong is the practice of cultivating the lower tan tien with breathing techniques, percussion using a bamboo hitter and animal positions. By creating greater elasticity in the connective tissue of the abdominal walls, pelvic floor and thoracic diaphragm it is possible to pack Qi into the spaces which will drive out toxins and negative qi, and create a protective, nourishing barrier around the vital organs and skeletal system.
Iron Shirt qigong makes use of tan tien qigong techniques to pack and hold Qi in the body’s structure in positions such as Embracing the tree, Holding the golden urn and many more.
